The Boys' final season sets up the 2027 Soldier Boy spinoff, Vought Rising—a 1950s prequel with a twisted murder mystery.
- April 20, 2026
AceShowbiz - The upcoming fifth season of The Boys is not only set to conclude the main storyline but is also laying important groundwork for the highly anticipated Soldier Boy spinoff starring Jensen Ackles. This new series, titled Vought Rising, is scheduled for release in 2027, according to Collider.
Vought Rising will be a prequel set in the 1950s, delving into the origins of the powerful corporation Vought as well as following the story of Soldier Boy alongside other significant supes from the era. The show promises to incorporate a “twisted murder mystery” narrative that should add an intriguing layer to the superhero drama.
Soldier Boy has already established himself as one of the most formidable and fascinating supes within The Boys universe, making a spinoff centered around his character a natural extension. Besides Soldier Boy, the series will introduce additional supes, expanding on their backstories and roles within the Vought mythology.
In The Boys Season 5, Episode 3, viewers get a glimpse of some of these characters through a key scene featuring Sister Sage. SPOILER ALERT: During the episode, Sister Sage explains why the supe virus is ineffective against Soldier Boy and mentions several other supes who were part of V1, the original and extremely potent version of Compound V. Although fans have met some of these supes before, the others have yet to appear within the main series but are cast and confirmed for Vought Rising.
This subtle reference during Season 5 effectively sets up the next spinoff by teasing the inclusion of these powerful supes. With five supes as strong as Soldier Boy, the new series is expected to deliver an exciting and action-packed storyline.
Stormfront/Liberty (Aya Cash)
The only supe Sister Sage names that fans are already familiar with is Stormfront, who goes by the name Liberty in the timeline of Vought Rising. Actress Aya Cash originally portrayed Stormfront in The Boys Season 2, where the character took over Translucent’s place in The Seven and acted as a secondary antagonist. Stormfront's storyline involved a complex relationship with Homelander and a dark revelation of her Nazi past. In the Season 2 finale, she was gravely injured by Ryan’s heat vision and later took her own life in Season 3, limiting her presence thereafter.
However, Aya Cash will reprise her role in the spinoff, where she will hold significant importance alongside Soldier Boy. Given that her character marries Frederick Vought, it makes narrative sense for her to be a prominent figure in a series focused on Vought’s origins.
Bombsight (Mason Dye)
Another supe mentioned by Sister Sage and confirmed for the spinoff is Bombsight, also a survivor of V1. Little is known about Bombsight’s abilities at this time, but actor Mason Dye has been cast to bring the character to life. Dye is recognized for his role as Jason in Stranger Things Season 4, where he demonstrated his skill at playing antagonistic roles.
Judging by the name Bombsight, it is speculated that his powers might involve explosives or enhanced vision, possibly the ability to detect bombs or detonate them through his sight. According to Nexus Point News, Bombsight was a combat pilot, which aligns with these potential powers. Variety also reports that Mason Dye will appear in The Boys Season 5 as Bombsight, giving fans an early opportunity to learn more about this character ahead of the spinoff’s debut.
Private Angel (Elizabeth Posey)
Another V1 supe set to appear in Vought Rising is Private Angel, portrayed by Elizabeth Posey. Posey, who has had minor roles in series such as Euphoria and Heels, as well as the 2021 film Dreamcatcher, will bring this mysterious character to life.
Currently, very little is known about Private Angel’s abilities or backstory, but her name and official character images suggest a military background. It remains unclear if Private Angel is still active in the timeline of The Boys, but given that V1 supes do not age, her continued presence is a possibility.
Torpedo (Will Hochman)
The last of the five supes mentioned by Sister Sage is Torpedo, who is largely an enigma. Actor Will Hochman, known for his role as Joe Hill on Blue Bloods, has been cast to portray this character in the upcoming spinoff.
According to Fandom.com, Torpedo served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, a fact supported by his official imagery. While his exact powers remain unknown, the name Torpedo strongly hints at a formidable and useful ability, likely related to underwater or projectile attacks. Fans will have to wait for more details to emerge through future episodes of The Boys or upon the release of Vought Rising.
The Boys Season 5 is therefore not only concluding the current narrative arc but also skillfully setting the stage for Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy spinoff by introducing and teasing four other powerful supes from the V1 generation. This layered storytelling approach ensures that fans have plenty to anticipate as the universe of The Boys continues to expand.
