AceShowbiz - Sean Diddy Combs is preparing to launch new legal counterclaims against former producer Lil Rod as he continues to face challenges in his criminal case.
According to recent court documents reported by AllHipHop, Diddy's legal team intends to file counterclaims in response to the $30 million lawsuit filed by Lil Rod, whose real name is Rodney Jones. The filings indicate that these claims are based on "recent conduct and facts that have emerged," although no specific details have been publicly released.
Lil Rod initiated his lawsuit against Diddy in February 2024, accusing the music mogul of sexual assault, coercion, and prolonged abusive behavior. Diddy has consistently denied all allegations. In March 2025, the lawsuit saw a partial resolution when a judge dismissed five racketeering claims, but the civil case remains active alongside Diddy's ongoing criminal matters.
In October 2025, Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in prison after being convicted on two counts of violating the Mann Act. Prosecutors had sought a significantly longer sentence, and federal sentencing guidelines recommended 70 to 87 months.
Earlier this month, Diddy's attorneys appeared before the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, arguing that the trial judge improperly considered conduct for which Diddy was acquitted. However, the judges appeared skeptical during the hearing.
As the appeals process unfolds, Diddy's legal team is expected to submit their counterclaims against Lil Rod by the June 30 deadline.
