AceShowbiz - Jackass 5 is gearing up to deliver its final dose of outrageous stunts and comedy, much to the excitement of longtime fans. It has been four years since the release of Jackass 4.5, and now the franchise’s star, Johnny Knoxville, has officially announced the return of the crew for one last movie. The film, titled Jackass: Best and Last, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26.
The announcement came during CinemaCon, where Paramount unveiled the trailer for the upcoming film. Knoxville took the stage to introduce the preview, expressing an emotional tone as he shared, “I'm going to try and not get too emotional as I present the last Jackass film the world will ever see.” The trailer itself combined nostalgic archive footage with glimpses of fresh content, including a surprising new cast member—a robot who hilariously performs a medical exam in true Jackass fashion.
The Jackass franchise originally began as a reality stunt show on MTV from 2000 to 2002, created by Knoxville, Spike Jonze, and Jeff Tremaine. Known for its daring and often painful stunts mixed with humor, the series evolved into a cultural phenomenon. Alongside iconic personalities like Steve-O, Bam Margera, and Wee Man, the franchise expanded into several films: Jackass: The Movie (2002), Jackass Number Two (2006), Jackass 3D (2010), Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013), and Jackass Forever (2022).
The new trailer was met with enthusiasm at CinemaCon, eliciting both laughter and tears as the original cast members, alongside new participants, prepare to bid farewell to the 26-year-old series. Notably, Jackass 3D remains the highest-grossing film in the franchise, earning $171 million worldwide. The most recent installment from 2022 brought in $80 million globally and introduced new faces such as Zach Holmes, Sean "Poopies" McInerney, Jasper Dolphin, Eric Manaka, and Rachel Wolfson.
One of the highlights for fans is the return of Bam Margera, who had distanced himself from the franchise and Knoxville in recent years. Margera appears in never-before-seen archival footage, despite being removed from Jackass Forever following reported violations of a "wellness agreement." Margera has openly expressed his displeasure with the team, sharing that he felt mistreated, particularly regarding enforced treatment and exclusion from the movie. He stated, “What they did to me, making me go to treatment and paying for it, and then not putting me in a movie, and, you know, I had to go to court over it. You couldn't offer me enough money to want to do another 'Jackass' with them. The damage has been done.”
In contrast, Knoxville has maintained a supportive stance toward his former co-star, saying, “I love Bam, I want him to get well and stay well.” This sentiment highlights the complicated dynamics within the cast as they come together one last time.
Jackass: Best and Last promises to combine the classic elements that made the franchise beloved with new surprises and heartfelt goodbyes. Fans can expect a theatrical release on June 26, marking the end of an era for this groundbreaking stunt series.
