AceShowbiz - Invincible has officially returned to Prime Video with the launch of its fourth season, and fans have already received an encouraging update regarding the upcoming fifth season. Since its debut, Invincible has been a major success on the streaming platform, securing renewals for multiple seasons. The fifth season was confirmed well before the fourth season premiered, and recent comments from co-creator Robert Kirkman suggest the wait for new episodes won’t be too prolonged.
Although the fourth season is still in its early episodes, production on the fifth season is already progressing steadily. Recent seasons of Invincible have followed a roughly annual release pattern, and Kirkman shared with Collider that this trend is expected to continue. When asked about the timeframe for the next season, Kirkman stated, "I think that a pattern has formed, but I can't confirm anything. Maybe it will be April...I would say that the goal is to come back in this general timeframe."
Regarding the current status of Invincible Season 5, Kirkman revealed that the team is receiving final animation deliverables while voice work, including ADR and retakes, is underway. Co-showrunner Simon Racioppa added that the production is approaching the end of the main production phase and entering post-production, a process that takes considerable time. Kirkman also noted that voice acting began early and continues steadily.
"We're not stopping until everyone on this production is burnt out," Kirkman said, highlighting the dedication behind the scenes. When questioned if Season 5 might arrive as early as March 2027, he remained noncommittal but optimistic, saying, "Maybe it will be April. Maybe May. Maybe January. I don't know. Who knows? We'll see. But I would say that the goal is to come back in this general timeframe... we're pretty far into Season 5, so we feel like we're in good shape." This statement suggests that the production is on track and fans can look forward to new episodes within that 2027 window.
Meanwhile, Season 4 of Invincible continues to release its episodes on Prime Video, with the finale scheduled for April 22nd. The season follows Mark as he faces increasingly difficult challenges, intensifying the dramatic tension established in previous seasons. With the fifth season already greenlit, the series can explore significant story arcs moving forward.
In earlier comments, co-creator Kirkman mentioned that adapting the entire original comic series would require approximately seven to nine seasons. However, with the animated series performing strongly on Prime Video, there is potential for expanded storytelling beyond the comics. The show has already introduced new material not found in the source comics, indicating creative flexibility as the series progresses.
Fans of Invincible can expect continued development and a sustained release schedule that balances quality production with timely delivery. The creators’ commitment to the project and steady workflow on Season 5 bode well for the franchise’s future on Prime Video.
