AceShowbiz - Ray Stevens, the veteran country music icon, is currently recuperating following a serious fall that resulted in a broken neck.
The accident occurred on Sunday, March 29, leading to a brief hospital stay in the Nashville area. According to his representative, Stevens was discharged soon after and is now continuing his recovery at home. Medical professionals have recommended that he wear a neck brace for roughly four weeks as a precautionary measure.
Despite the injury's severity, Stevens remains “fully mobile” and in good spirits, demonstrating resilience as he heals.
This health setback comes just days before the scheduled release of his new album, Favorites Old & New, which will be available on Friday, April 10 through Curb Records. Stevens expressed enthusiasm about the project, sharing that he had a lot of fun creating the album. He described it as a collection featuring some of his favorite classic songs alongside fresh material written by talented songwriters.
The album includes renditions of timeless standards such as The Look of Love, It Had to Be You, and Come Rain or Come Shine, all performed in Stevens’s distinctive style. New tracks like I Guess You've Never Been in Love With the Moon, Moving Out Is Easier Than Moving On, and Time Machine also make their debut on this release.
This recent injury adds to earlier health concerns from July 2025, when Stevens suffered a minor heart attack and underwent surgery.
A celebrated inductee of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Stevens is known for his wide-ranging talent, blending humor and insightful social commentary in hits such as the novelty song The Streak and the reflective Mr. Businessman.
