AceShowbiz - Britney Spears has issued her first public statement since her DUI arrest in early March. On Friday, March 27, the pop icon posted a video on Instagram showing her dancing in front of a mirror alongside her 19-year-old son, Jayden Federline. Along with the clip, she expressed gratitude to her supporters for their kindness during this challenging period.
In her post, Britney Spears wrote, "Thank you guys for all your support... spending time with family and friends is such a blessing. Stay kind !!!" The video features the singer striking various poses while her son playfully imitates Michael Jackson, donning a white fedora.
Following this, Spears shared a similar video with her son, accompanied by a caption urging her followers to “Stay kind,” and included a rose emoji. Comments were disabled on the initial post, which had gathered close to 200,000 likes at the time of reporting.
The arrest occurred on March 4 in Ventura County, California, where Spears was detained at 9:28 p.m. PT on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was booked by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office and released the next morning at approximately 6:07 a.m. PT on March 5.
Spears’s representative addressed the incident in a statement to Billboard, describing it as "an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable." The representative added that Britney plans to comply with legal requirements and hopes this event will mark the beginning of necessary changes in her life. They emphasized the importance of her receiving the support and assistance needed during this difficult time.
The statement continued by confirming that Spears’s children will spend time with her and that her loved ones aim to develop a plan to ensure her well-being and success moving forward.
This incident is not the first legal trouble for Spears. In 2007, she turned herself in after a hit-and-run accident where she struck a parked vehicle in Los Angeles. That case was later dismissed and did not result in charges.
Billboard has reached out to Spears’ representative for further comments but has not received additional statements at this time.
Despite the recent difficulties, Spears’s social media posts reflect a focus on family and positivity, resonating with fans who continue to support her.
