AceShowbiz - The Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown is set to reach wider audiences with a theatrical release scheduled for July 24. Bleecker Street’s event cinema division, Crosswalk, has partnered with LD Entertainment to acquire distribution rights for the live theater-shot production in North America and English-speaking territories. A release date for the UK will be announced soon.

This filmed live stage version of Hadestown marks the first in a planned series of Broadway live captures that Crosswalk and LD Entertainment intend to bring to theaters. The collaboration aims to capitalize on the growing demand for event cinema experiences that bring stage performances to movie audiences.

Crosswalk recently found box office success with specialty concert films. Their release of Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience grossed $7.2 million domestically, showcasing the appetite for live performance cinema. Prior to that, Bleecker Street’s release of the live stage musical Waitress earned $5.4 million through an initial run across 1,214 locations.

The upcoming release of Hadestown will offer fans a chance to experience the acclaimed production beyond the theater, continuing Crosswalk and LD’s expansion into live performance film distribution. This move reflects an increasing trend to make celebrated theater productions accessible to broader audiences via cinematic presentations.
