AceShowbiz - Leonine Studios has secured the distribution rights for the highly anticipated sequel, The Beekeeper 2, in German-speaking Europe, excluding the Pay-1 window on Prime Video. The action thriller, starring Jason Statham, is scheduled for theatrical release in Germany on January 14, 2027.
Leonine Studios had previously distributed the original The Beekeeper in Germany in January 2024, where it debuted at number one in the box office. The first film garnered significant success, achieving 800,000 admissions and reaching one million digital transactions, making it the most successful TVOD title in Germany for that year.
Worldwide, The Beekeeper earned $162.6 million at the box office and received a strong critical response, holding a "92% Verified Hot" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel continues the story of retired field agent Adam Clay, reprised by Jason Statham.
Produced and financed by Miramax, The Beekeeper 2 will be released outside of German-speaking Europe by Amazon MGM Studios. The film is directed by Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto, known for Nobody 2, working from a script penned by Kurt Wimmer, who also wrote the original movie.
The production involves Jason Statham’s Punch Palace Productions, Chris Long’s Longshot Productions, and Kurt Wimmer as producers. Fans of the first film can anticipate the return of the intense action and gripping storylines that defined the original.
This new installment is positioned to build on the franchise’s success, with German audiences already familiar with the first film’s strong performance and enthusiastic reception.
