Eric Braeden revealed that he battled pneumonia for about two weeks. While the illness made communication with fans sparse, he reassured everyone that he is over that now and back on track. Braeden shared that multiple family members had also been ill lately, which made his recovery more difficult given his age. However, he credited modern medicine and antibiotics for helping him bounce back.

He described pneumonia as a serious condition, saying it "hits you like a ton of bricks," highlighting the severity of his experience. For someone who values physical fitness, Braeden noted that he has resumed working out but emphasized the importance of gradually easing back into exercise rather than pushing too hard too soon.

Despite his time away from the studio, Braeden assured fans that his pneumonia would not impact his on-screen work as Victor Newman. He managed to make up for the missed time by pulling double duty over the following two to three weeks. "But we survived it... I love being back to work. Love being back with my colleagues," he said.

The actor also expressed joy in reuniting with co-stars including Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman), Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman), Mark Grossman (Adam Newman), Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman), and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers).
