AceShowbiz - Netflix has officially revealed the cast lineup for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Scooby-Doo, assembling the iconic Mystery Inc. gang with fresh faces. Maxwell Jenkins ("Lost in Space") will portray Fred Jones, Abby Ryder Fortson ("The Pitt") takes on Velma Dinkley, and Tanner Hagen ("The Pitt") is cast as Shaggy Rogers. These actors join Mckenna Grace ("Young Sheldon"), who was previously announced in the role of Daphne Blake.
The series is described as a contemporary reimagining of the beloved teen mystery-solving team and their famous canine companion. The story is set during their last summer at camp, where longtime friends Shaggy and Daphne become involved in a chilling mystery tied to a lonely lost Great Dane puppy. This puppy may hold witness to a supernatural murder, pulling the group into a frightening nightmare that threatens to reveal their deepest secrets. Alongside the pragmatic Velma and the intriguing newcomer Fred, these friends unite to unravel the eerie case at the heart of the story.
Showrunners and executive producers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg lead the creative team for the as-yet-untitled series. The executive production team also includes industry veterans Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Adrienne Erickson, and Toby Haynes.
In other casting developments across television, Jesse Williams ("Grey’s Anatomy") has joined the cast of The Morning Show Season 5 as Vernon, described as a brash and provocative new head of news at UBN.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5 has expanded its roster with eight recurring guest stars: Chris Diamantopoulos ("Silicon Valley") as Frank Silver, Corbin Bernsen ("L.A. Law") as Richard Finch, Diane Guerrero ("Orange Is the New Black") as Natalia, Iker Garcia ("The Pitt") as Rafa Wagner, Patty Guggenheim ("She Hulk: Attorney at Law") as Allison Finch, Richard Cabral ("Mayans M.C.") as Benny Perez, Steve Howey ("Shameless") as Brian Cunningham, and Teresa Maria ("Narcos: Mexico") as Tina Perez. Additionally, Cobie Smulders, introduced in Season 4 as Emi Finch, has been promoted to series regular.
Netflix’s drama The Altruists, centered on the rise and fall of FTX, has added Hudson Williams ("Heated Rivalry") and Jennifer Grey ("Dirty Dancing") to its cast. The eight-episode series stars Julia Garner as Caroline Ellison and Anthony Boyle as Sam Bankman-Fried.
On CBS, the Season 3 finale of Elsbeth will feature guest appearances by Patti LuPone ("Agatha All Along") and Michael Urie ("Shrinking"). LuPone portrays Ruby Lane, a legendary New York cabaret performer residing in the hotel where she sings, while Urie plays Monty Blakemont III, a charming art connoisseur and philanthropist with questionable financial backing.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed has cast Nabhaan Rizwan ("KAOS") and Claes Bang ("Bad Sisters") in undisclosed series-regular roles.
