AceShowbiz - ZAYN, the former One Direction star, has claimed the top spot in this week’s fan-voted music poll with his latest single, “Die for Me.”
The poll, published on Friday (Feb. 6) by Billboard, saw music enthusiasts selecting ZAYN's new track as their favorite among a host of popular releases, including new music from Tame Impala, J. Cole, and Jennie. Garnering an impressive 80% of the votes, “Die for Me” stood out as the clear winner.
This R&B-pop single, along with its captivating music video, precedes the release of Konnakol, ZAYN's upcoming fifth studio album. Set to drop on April 17 via Mercury Records/Island Records U.K., this album follows his 2024 project, Room Under the Stairs.
In a press statement, ZAYN expressed his excitement about the new album, stating, “It’s that time again, I have been lucky enough to make a fifth studio album.” He elaborated on the meaning of the album's title, noting, “Konnakol in its definition is the act of creating percussive sounds with one’s voice, but what it means to me lies somewhere much deeper.”
ZAYN also shared insights into his artistic journey, saying, “I have always drawn on my heritage for inspiration since I first started making my own music — this album is a development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever, who I am, where I come from and where I intend to go.”
Following the announcement of Konnakol, ZAYN revealed a series of tour dates for the accompanying Konnakol Tour, which is set to kick off on May 12 in Manchester, England. The tour will take him across arenas and stadiums in the U.K., Mexico, North America, and South America.
Trailing behind “Die for Me” in the recent poll were the “Dracula” remix by Tame Impala and Jennie, which received 9% of the votes, and J. Cole’s The Fall-Off album with 3%. Additionally, Nick Jonas’ Sunday Best and sombr’s Homewrecker each garnered 2% of the vote.
