Michael Bay's Ambulance gains traction on streaming, rivaling Guy Ritchie's The Covenant
- December 10, 2025
AceShowbiz - Ambulance is finally getting the recognition it deserves, with the Michael Bay film gaining traction on streaming platforms. After a disappointing box office run in 2022, the movie is now catching up with Guy Ritchie's The Covenant on the global streaming charts. According to FlixPatrol, Ambulance was the third-most-watched movie on the domestic Netflix charts during the Thanksgiving holiday.
The movie, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as two adoptive brothers who hijack an ambulance after a bank robbery, has been hailed as Bay's grand return to form. With a 68% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the critics' consensus reads, "At top speed and with sirens wailing, Ambulance comes riding to the rescue for audiences facing an emergency shortage of Michael Bay action thrills." The movie also features Eiza González and Garrett Dillahunt, and remains the last release of Bay's career.
Jake Gyllenhaal has had a streak of good fortune, headlining arguably the best movies of their respective directors' careers, including The Covenant and Ambulance. Although both movies tanked at the box office, they have found success on streaming platforms, with The Covenant being a fixture on the global streaming charts. Gyllenhaal has also had streaming success with Prime Video's Road House and Apple TV's Presumed Innocent.
Michael Bay is now set to release his first documentary, We Are Storror, about the British parkour group of the same name. Recent reports also suggest that he could make a return to the Transformers franchise in some capacity, now that the studio has had a change in ownership and behind-the-scenes management. You can watch Ambulance on Netflix domestically, and stay tuned for more updates on Bay's upcoming projects.
