AceShowbiz - Just in time for the spooky season, master of pre-teen frights R.L. Stine is set to deliver fresh scares to audiences of all ages. His latest adaptation, R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead, has officially made its streaming debut, and best of all, it's completely free. This chilling new film is now available on Tubi, offering a perfect dose of supernatural suspense for Halloween.
Pumpkinhead, which holds no ties to Stan Winston's 1988 film, transports viewers to the eerie rural town of Redhaven. The story follows brothers Sam and Finn, who relocate there with their widowed mother. Redhaven lives up to its sinister reputation, a place where "the harvest never ends," filled with unfriendly locals and an abundance of creepy scarecrows. Central to the mystery is elderly farmer Palmer, who possesses an unsettling protectiveness over his prize pumpkins.
When Sam, still grappling with his father's death, impulsively steals one of Palmer's gourds, Finn attempts to return it. However, Finn mysteriously vanishes from Palmer's farm, and disturbingly, everyone in town seems to forget he ever existed. It falls to Sam, his new friend Becka, and the eccentric Rusty to uncover the truth. Their quest quickly evolves into a desperate struggle against a supernatural child-sacrifice curse linked to Palmer's pumpkins and a truly menacing, animated scarecrow.
The film skillfully captures the nostalgic essence of R.L. Stine's beloved 1990s Goosebumps era, providing family-friendly thrills. Its cast includes Kevin McNulty, Bob Frazer, Matty Finochio, Seth Isaac Johnson, and newcomers Bean Reid (Sam) and Adeline Lo (Becka). Written and directed by Jem Garrard (known for Slay), Pumpkinhead originated from Stine's 1999 anthology, Nightmare Hour, and was previously adapted for The Haunting Hour.
Tubi, the popular free streamer, consistently offers a rich selection of horror. This month, alongside Pumpkinhead, they are showcasing genre classics like Neil Jordan's Interview With the Vampire, David Lynch's surreal Eraserhead, John Landis' An American Werewolf in London, and Richard Donner's The Omen. Modern scares include Gore Verbinski's The Ring, Diablo Cody's Jennifer's Body, and the first three Saw films. Also featured is Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, cementing Tubi's robust horror offerings.
Experience R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead, now streaming for free on Tubi, for a spine-tingling adventure perfect for your Halloween viewing. Don't miss out on these fresh frights.
