Lily Allen has taken a step back from her recent criticisms of Katy Perry's participation in the Blue Origin space flight, citing her 'own internalized misogyny' as the reason behind her comments.

AceShowbiz - Lily Allen has publicly expressed regret for her prior comments about Katy Perry's space mission. Joining the chorus of celebrities criticizing the twelve-minute space journey that included Perry, broadcaster Gayle King, and Jeff Bezos' fiancee Lauren Sanchez, Allen initially questioned the mission's timing amid global economic struggles.

In the April 17 episode of her "Miss Me?" podcast, Allen voiced her disapproval of the all-female crew's brief journey to space with Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos' private space company.

She remarked, "Do we want to talk about Katy Perry and her mates all going up to space for 12 minutes?...We're on the brink of recession, people are really struggling to make ends meet and get food on their table."

The backlash against the space mission was far-reaching, with notable celebrities including Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Wilde also criticizing the event. Ratajkowski called the mission "end time s**t" and questioned the environmental impact.

"Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?" Ratajkowski said.

However, Allen's singling out of Perry has now led to a change of heart. In the podcast episode aired on April 28, Allen admitted her regrets. "There was actually no need for me to bring her name into it, and it was my own internalized misogyny," she said.

She elaborated, "I've been thinking about it a lot and it was just completely unnecessary to pile on with her. I do disagree with what it was that they did, but she wasn't the only person that did it."

"She was possibly the most famous and the one that divides people the most, so I dunno, there was something in me that decided to choose her as the person that should...Anyway, I'm just sorry. I would have been hurt if it had been me and someone in my industry used me and my name."
