'The last of Us' actor Pedro Pascal has publicly criticized J.K. Rowling for her recent comments celebrating a UK Supreme Court ruling against recognizing transgender women as women.

AceShowbiz - Pedro Pascal, famed actor and star of HBO's hit series "The Last of Us," has taken a strong public stance against J.K. Rowling's latest controversial comments on transgender rights.

The backlash comes after Rowling celebrated a UK Supreme Court decision that ruled transgender women should not be recognized as women under Britain's Equality Act. The decision has sparked a heated debate on social media and beyond.

Rowling, the author of the immensely popular "Harry Potter" series, took to social media to praise the court's ruling, posting a photo of herself smoking a cigar and holding a drink with the caption, "I love it when a plan comes together," followed by hashtags #SupremeCourt and #WomensRights.

This post did not sit well with many, including Pascal. The actor responded to an Instagram video by activist Tariq Ra'ouf criticizing Rowling's support for the anti-transgender ruling.

In his comment, Pascal echoed Ra'ouf's sentiments by stating, "Awful disgusting S**T is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior." As of now, this comment has garnered thousands of likes.

Ra'ouf called for a boycott of all things associated with Rowling and her "Harry Potter" franchise, urging followers to refrain from watching the upcoming HBO series reboot and visiting related attractions. "It's time to tell these corporations that transphobia loses money," wrote Ra'ouf.

Pascal has been an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, notably supporting his younger sister Lux Pascal, who came out as a transgender woman in 2021.

While Pascal's remarks have resonated with many, J.K. Rowling's stance continues to be a polarizing subject. Despite backlash, she continues her vocal stance supporting the biological definition of women.

Despite the controversy, HBO still moves forward with its ambitious "Harry Potter" series reboot. John Lithgow, Nick Frost, Paapa Essiedu, and Janet McTeer are among the cast members.
