Being rich and famous comes with many perks, but sometimes it can attract the worst of humanity. Justin Bieber's disturbing brush with danger exemplifies the dark side of celebrity life.

AceShowbiz - A New Mexico corrections officer has detailed a chilling encounter with Dana Martin, an inmate who masterminded a plot to kidnap, castrate, and murder Justin Bieber. This bizarre saga, rooted in Martin's infatuation and quest for notoriety, unraveled before any harm could come to Bieber.

Martin, already serving two life sentences for the 2000 rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl, became obsessed with Bieber and even had a tattoo of the singer on his leg. After his attempts to correspond with Bieber went unanswered, Martin concocted a grisly plan to target the young star.

Teaming up with ex-convict Mark Staake and his nephew Tanner Ruane, Martin outlined a multi-phase scheme that was thwarted by a twist of fate - Staake and Ruane took a wrong turn and ended up at the Canadian border, where they were apprehended.

During a recorded prison phone call intercepted by guards, Ruane and Martin labeled their targets as "dogs" and discussed using hand-held hedge clippers for castration. An affidavit revealed that Ruane was promised $2,500 per testicle, and another phase of the plan involved strangling victims with paisley ties, a chilling nod to Martin's previous crimes.

State Police Lt. Robert McDonald emphasized the importance of early intervention in the case, "We're definitely thankful - we owe it to the guard at the correctional facility who caught these phone calls and got on it right away. That's how we were able to catch these guys."

Despite the plot's foiling, the incident underscores the unsettling reality of celebrity stalkers. Bieber's ordeal is far from unique - other stars like Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey have also faced similarly terrifying encounters, proving that fame often comes at a frightening cost.

As Martin remains behind bars, he and his cohorts faced legal repercussions for their conspiracy. Martin was moved to a maximum-security facility while Staake and Ruane were convicted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. As a haunting reminder of his actions, Martin once bragged, "I completely got away with putting a hit on Justin Bieber."

The reality for young celebrities remains stark: admirable success can lure dangerous obsessions. For Justin Bieber, the dark side of fame has been all too real.
