In the constantly evolving landscape of Hollywood, the fight for gender equality continues. Minka Kelly's recent victory in securing a higher salary serves as a testament to the progress being made.

AceShowbiz - Minka Kelly took a significant stand for equal pay. After being cast in Netflix's new series "Ransom Canyon," the 44-year-old actress found herself notably underpaid compared to her male co-star, Josh Duhamel, 52. Determined to close this gap, Kelly demanded a salary that matched Duhamel's.

Although Netflix did not align their salaries entirely, they made a substantial increase in Kelly's pay to bridge the disparity. "[I] didn't have to fight very hard," she revealed to Deadline, highlighting the relative ease with which Netflix addressed her concerns.

She expressed her appreciation for Netflix's supportive stance, remarking, "I think that's probably one of the best things about working with Netflix, is that they're very pro that. I feel really lucky to get to work with the company that does care about that."

"Ransom Canyon," based on Jodi Thomas' book series, brings to life the engaging tales of drama, romance, and hope in Texas Hill Country. The series features an impressive ensemble cast, including James Brolin.

Netflix has not yet confirmed a second season, but creator April Blair shared that the writers' room is already laying the groundwork for potential future episodes. Blair provided some intriguing hints about what fans could expect if "Ransom Canyon" returns.

"We've already started the writers' room, even though the show hasn't been picked up to series yet for season 2,” Blair told TV Insider. A key plotline includes Quinn (Kelly's character) going to New York and subsequently returning, with Staten's character grappling with unresolved past traumas.

Acknowledging the open-ended nature of season one, Blair noted, "In a potential season 2, I think it's a huge part of what's going on. Westerns are morality tales, and so every aspect of this show, we always try to come from that foundation of love, lands, and legacy, and what that really means."
