AceShowbiz - Deadmau5, one of the renowned names in the electronic dance music scene, had a rough outing at Coachella this year. Performing under his alter ego, Testpilot, on Friday night, the DJ led his set quickly into chaos.
The night was supposed to feature a rave-forward setup with extensive DJ performances. However, what unfolded was far from the electrifying experience attendees expected.
According to We Rave You, the first signs of trouble appeared when Deadmau5 began drinking heavily during his performance. As his intoxication grew more evident, his mixing skills, typically sharp and precise, began to deteriorate noticeably.
At points, he even stopped playing entirely and slurred his words into the microphone -an uncharacteristic sight for such an experienced performer.
It's reported that Deadmau5's behavior escalated to outright antagonism toward his collaborator ZHU, like disrupting his fellow musician while he was trying to perform. This erratic behavior prompted Coachella officials to cut the set short, ending what was expected to be a memorable night in electronic dance music on a sour note.
In the wake of the incident, Deadmau5 took to Instagram to address the situation. "I don't remember a thing. But I don't think I had a cig? So... that's good I guess? Going back to bed. Wake me up around Thursday-ish," he wrote, accompanying the post with a picture of a water bottle.
He added in the comments, "Probably my last Coachella show." His collaborator ZHU responded with a sense of humor, commenting, "Blackout at Blacklizt," referencing his own alter ego.
The following day, Deadmau5 issued a more heartfelt apology. Sharing a picture of his cat, he admitted, "Man, even my cat is disappointed in me. Tho, it could be argued that she always has been. Sorry about last night. Lol. TO BE FAIR, I felt the first 3/4 was great!"
He also revealed plans to quit smoking and take time for personal resetting at home, along with working on new music.
