AceShowbiz - Jacob Elordi, known for his roles in HBO's "Euphoria", was on the cusp of taking a well-deserved break, but then it came an irresistible text from Emerald Fennell, and the rest, as they say, is history.
"I was really lucky," Elordi shared with IndieWire. "I was going to take a break for a while, and then Emerald just very simply texted me, and you can't run from that text."
The upcoming film has just wrapped shooting in the UK and is set for a February 13, 2026, release by Warner Bros. Elordi takes on the role of romantic antihero Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie who plays his beloved Catherine Earnshaw.
The film explores the tumultuous, passionate, and intense relationship between the two characters, set against the haunting backdrop of the eponymous residence.
This project follows Fennell's previous successes, "Promising Young Woman" and "Saltburn." Robbie's admiration for Fennell's craftsmanship is clear as she said, "She immerses you into a world so quickly. She's so masterful at tone and plot; she gets you into it so quickly - you're just immediately like, 'I'm in this world.' "
The casting choice of Elordi as Heathcliff has not been without controversy, given the character's original description as a "dark-skinned gipsy" in Emily Bronte's 1847 novel. Despite the initial backlash, anticipation for the film remains high, fueled by the combined star power and talent of Elordi, Robbie, and Fennell's visionary direction.
Elordi himself has nothing but praise for his co-star. "She's incredible in the film, she's a livewire. I'm so, so excited for people to see it. She's a beautiful actor and she gave so, so much," he said.
