AceShowbiz - Reese Witherspoon offered a first look at her latest project, "Legally Blonde" prequel series. The image shared on Instagram features Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods in Amazon Prime Video's upcoming series "Elle."
Minetree fits the part perfectly, donning a pink hoodie and surrounded by pink bedding, a nod to Elle's signature style. "Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!" wrote Witherspoon who played the character in the original movie.
"Elle" promises to offer a closer look into the high school years of Elle Woods, a character who became iconic in the 2001 film "Legally Blonde." It :follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first 'Legally Blonde' film."
The show marks Lexi Minetree's first lead role after smaller appearances in "Law & Order: SVU," "The Murdaugh Murders," "Crowdsource Murder," and "The Paramedic Who Stalked Me."
The cast is rounded out with Tom Everett Scott as Elle's father and June Diane Raphael as her mother. Gabrielle Policano stars as Liz, described as the anti-Elle Woods, while Jacob Moskovitz plays Miles, the school's star athlete charmed by Elle. Chandler Kinney takes on the role of Kimberly, a senior who isn't a fan of Elle.
Laura Kittrell created "Elle" and serves as co-showrunner with Caroline Dries. Both are executive producers alongside Marc Platt as well as Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, and Lauren Kisilevsky via Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine banner. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, having greenlit the project in May 2024.
"Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?!" Witherspoon said.
