AceShowbiz - Roughly five months after announcing her battle with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, "Full House" star Dave Coulier has been declared cancer-free. According to his representative, the 65-year-old actor received the all-clear following months of intensive treatment.
Coulier shared his relief and happiness in an interview with Parade. "[My wife] Melissa and I waited for a week to get the biopsy results back, and there is no sign of cancer. One of the few times in my life when 'zero' has been a great number to hear," Coulier explained.
However, he cautiously added that he's still awaiting the results of a CAT scan to ensure that cancer was truly "in the rearview mirror."
Costar Candace Cameron Bure was among the first to share her excitement as soon as the news broke out. "DAVE IS CANCER FREE!!!!" she exclaimed on Instagram, urging fans to join her in celebrating the "AMAZING news" and shower Coulier with love. Coulier reciprocated the affection, commenting, "Love you so much, poopoo."
John Stamos, another "Full House" alum, revealed he heard the wonderful news while at Disney World. He celebrated Coulier's resilience, saying, "He fought like hell with strength and heart and true to form [for] Dave, a whole lot of humor."
The two friends maintained close communication throughout Coulier's treatment, using humor to cope during the difficult times. As a show of solidarity, Stamos even sported a bald cap when Coulier started losing his hair during chemotherapy.
Though criticized for the act, Coulier defended Stamos, explaining it as their way of handling tough moments.
Throughout his treatment, Coulier remained transparent about his struggles, sharing the increasing severity of symptoms like neuropathy, nausea, and dizziness. "They call it chemo brain, where you're a bit foggy - that started to increase," he said.
By his sixth and final round of chemo, Coulier found himself unable to get out of bed due to overwhelming fatigue.
Yet, hope and optimism persisted. In his conversation with Today.com, Coulier revealed that he had come to terms with whatever outcome awaited him. "I've had an incredible life. I've had the most amazing people in my life. This has been an extraordinary journey, and I'm OK if this is the end of the journey," he shared.
Thankfully, it isn't the end. Coulier is now cancer-free, feeling better day by day, and ready to move forward with his life. As he poignantly put it, "Today is the first day that I really feel like, 'Wow, I'm feeling pretty darn good. I feel like myself.' "
His recovery story is not just a win for him but a heartwarming victory for everyone who has cheered him on.
