Recent updates on the death of Brett Gardner's son, Miller, clarify initial reports suggesting asphyxiation was the main factor in his passing and shed light on the ongoing investigation.

AceShowbiz - The sudden death of Miller Gardner, the 14-year-old son of former New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, was initially reported as a possible case of asphyxiation, but recent findings have ruled out this cause of death. Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) has confirmed that there were no macro-level abnormalities in Miller's respiratory tract.

According to reports from People and CNN, Miller was vacationing with his family in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, when they all suddenly fell ill. Marisel Rodriguez from the OIJ revealed that the family likely suffered from food poisoning after dining at a different hotel. The hotel's doctor treated the family for stomach issues, but tragically, Miller was found unresponsive the next morning.

In an interview with CNN, Juan Pablo Alvarado from OIJ explained that although asphyxia was initially suspected due to the presence of vomit, medical examinations found no obstruction in the airways, ruling out asphyxiation.

The agency is now focusing on pathological and toxicological examinations to pinpoint the exact cause of death. Results from these tests are expected in approximately three months.

The Gardner family has since returned to the United States, but the investigation continues in Costa Rica. The OIJ is reviewing security footage and interviewing hotel staff and the hotel's doctor. They also plan to conduct virtual interviews with family members to gather more information about the incidents leading up to Miller's untimely death.

In a heartfelt statement on Sunday, Brett and Jessica Gardner expressed their profound grief over their son's passing, stating, "Miller was a beloved son and brother and we cannot yet comprehend our life without his infectious smile."

They reminisced about Miller's passions for sports and the outdoors, describing him as someone who "lived life to the fullest every single day."

Brett Gardner, who played 14 seasons with the Yankees and won the World Series in 2009, retired in 2021. The New York Yankees organization issued their condolences, acknowledging the deep connection the Gardner family has had with the team for over 17 years. They remembered Miller for his "sparkling personality" and "warm and loving nature."

The shocking and sudden nature of Miller Gardner's death has left many with more questions than answers. As the investigation continues, the Gardner family and their community hold on to the memories and the spirit of a young boy who brought joy to those around him.
