AceShowbiz - In a recent episode of her podcast, Martha Stewart recounted her experience working with Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, sharing how his dedication to the role took her by surprise. Stewart explained to guest Kate Hudson, McConaughey's frequent co-star, "He got me scared actually."
Stewart described how the actor immersed himself in his roles for the commercial, which required him to portray ten different characters, including legendary Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka and an NFL executive. "He is a method actor, I think," said Stewart.
Hudson, having starred with McConaughey in films like "Fool's Gold" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," wasn't shocked by Stewart's account.
"He'd make weird sounds. He makes sounds and does crazy things," Hudson noted, recalling McConaughey's unconventional techniques. Stewart echoed, "He's grunting and breathing and jumping up and down. And that scared me."
The Uber Eats ad, which aired during the Super Bowl, was star-studded with appearances from Greta Gerwig, Kevin Bacon, and Charli XCX.
Despite the initial shock, Stewart and Hudson agreed that McConaughey was ultimately "fabulous" to work with. Hudson reminisced about their onscreen chemistry, revealing that their mutual competitiveness made their collaborations particularly enjoyable.
"We have so much fun when we're working," she said. "He's one of the most fun people to work with for me because energetically, we're both very competitive."
Stewart added candidly, "You probably just wanted to tell him to shut the hell up," to which Hudson responded, "You just wait. It's like his warm-up." Both women shared a laugh, agreeing on the actor's unique yet effective methods.
