AceShowbiz - As Blake Lively stepped out to promote her new movie "Another Simple Favor" at SXSW amid her ongoing legal battle with "It Ends With Us" director Justin Baldoni, her interactions with co-star Anna Kendrick on the red carpet and their remarks about each other became a focal point.
When asked by an Entertainment Tonight reporter what it was like to reunite with Blake Lively, Kendrick gave a terse and evasive reply, "Oh, you know…," sparking considerable attention online. This was contrasted by Lively's enthusiastic response, "Oh, it's the best, I'm so happy."
Kendrick was also asked how the movie was affected by "everything going on in the world," she once again dodged the question, "Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca [plant-based psychedelic] and the last year of my life is just gone."
Kendrick additionally seemed to be uncomfortable when she took the stage together with the "Gossip Girl" alum. In the viral footage, Lively looked so animated as she talked to the crowd while Kendrick who stood next to her appeared to be more subdued as she avoided eye contact.
However, in a more scripted setting, they stood close to each other to enjoy martini with director Paul Feig and male co-stars Henry Golding and Michele Morrone in a video posted on Instagram.
Speculations about a rift between the co-stars intensified, especially in the wake of Blake Lively's ongoing legal battles. Rumor has it, Kendrick was not happy that Lively's controversy overshadowed their new movie. They also reportedly clashed over their billing placement on the film's poster.
Kendrick's name was placed above Lively's in the original movie, but Lively insisted on having her name at the very top for the sequel. "They fought through their reps, and finally, a deal was struck with equal billing - Anna's name first and Blake's above on the right-hand side," a source said. Neither actress was reportedly thrilled with the outcome, but both accepted it.
As "Another Simple Favor" hits the screens, viewers will be watching not just for the thrill of the film but also for any real-life drama playing out between its leading stars.
