AceShowbiz - As Valentine's Day rolls around, many couples are planning extravagant celebrations. But for actress Hailee Steinfeld and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, keeping it low-key is the ideal way to cherish their first Valentine's Day as an engaged couple.
Two months after he proposed with a $500,000 engagement ring, the movie beauty revealed in her Beau Society newsletter that their Valentine's Day plans are refreshingly simple. "For me, Valentine's Day will most likely be a low-key evening," the 28-year-old actress shared.
The couple plans to "pull out a recipe we haven't tried, cook it together, and turn in early," embracing more intimate, homey celebrations over Pinterest-inspired extravaganzas.
"As much as I want to go on Pinterest and turn my house into a Valentine's Day party (every single year), it always ends up being something way more casual," Steinfeld wrote, humorously recalling red balloons and pink-frosted cookies as her usual understated decor.
the brunette beauty emphasized the importance of keeping expectations realistic and personal. "Comparison is the thief of joy, especially on Valentine's Day. Turn off your phone and do what sounds fun to you," she advised her followers. If that fun takes the form of watching romantic comedies with popcorn and M&Ms, even better.
The couple first sparked dating rumors in May 2023, shortly after Allen's split from longtime girlfriend Brittany Williams. They kept their relationship mostly under wraps, surfacing occasionally for events like Paris Fashion Week and a memorable sushi date in New York City.
Allen's proposal in November 2024 was a heartfelt and nervous moment for him. "I was very nervous. I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal," Allen admitted in the December 2024 edition of Beau Society.
Steinfeld consistently highlights her pride and admiration for Allen. She gushed to E! News about his hard work and dedication, and her support visibly moved Allen during his Most Valuable Player acceptance speech for the 2025 NFL Honors.
"You've been my rock. You are my best friend [and] I would not be standing on this stage if it weren't for you," Allen acknowledged, pointing to their strong partnership.
Following the event, the actress took to Instagram to show off his achievement. "That's MVP Josh Allen to you! 👑," she captioned pictures from the event, to which he replied with an equally heartwarming message, "I love you ❤️🔥."
In an age where social media often glamorizes perfect relationships and grand gestures, Steinfeld and Allen's approach offers a refreshing perspective. Their plans for a cozy, intimate Valentine's Day serve as a reminder that the joy of the holiday lies in the simplicity of shared moments and genuine connection.
