AceShowbiz - In a galaxy not so far away, it appears that "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" may be back on track with some exciting new developments, after it was momentarily paused. Originally announced in December 2020, this film aims to introduce "a new generation of starfighter pilots" in a high-speed, boundary-pushing storyline.
Development of the project slowed down in 2021 due to director Patty Jenkins' other commitments, including "Wonder Woman 3". However, with the shelving of the "Wonder Woman" project, Jenkins reportedly now resumes work on "Rogue Squadron".
According to industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, Chris Pine is being considered for the lead role. The actor, best known for playing Captain James T. Kirk in Paramount's rebooted "Star Trek" trilogy, previously collaborated with Jenkins in the first two "Wonder Woman" films.
Back in 2023, in an interview with Collider, Chris Pine revealed he did talk to Patty Jenkins about the "Star Wars" project but they only discussed the story, not his possible involvement.
"I had spoken to her about, not my involvement, but the story. She talked to me about it. It sounds really, really great. But I'm ecstatic for her, excited for what she's about to embark on. If there's anyone that can reimagine and breathe fresh, new life into it, it's her," he said.
Now the discussions between the duo may have veered into the casting.
