AceShowbiz - Miss Universe contestant, Magali Benejam from Córdoba, Argentina, created a storm during a live YouTube broadcast with content creator King Lucho. Benejam's accusations were bold: she suggested that the results of the 2024 Miss Universe competition, held in Mexico City, were rigged.
Benejam placed 12th in the competition and was vocal about her discontent with the final outcome which saw Denmark's Victoria Kjær Theilvig crowned as the winner.
"When they announced the Top 5, I saw the judges looking at each other in [strange] ways," Benejam claimed according to a translation by the Latin Times. "They started looking at each other as if to say, 'This is not what we chose, this is not what I chose.' That's what it felt like from the outside and that's where I said, 'OK, this is fixed.' It was always fixed, every year."
Benejam suggested Theilvig may have known she would win the pageant because the Danish contestant allegedly had three layers of security leading up to the final days of the contest.
The model's comments swiftly caught the attention of the Miss Universe Organization, leading to her being stripped of her title on January 2. "After a thorough review of recent public comments made by Miss Magali Benejam, and based on our core principles, we have decided to withdraw the title of Miss Universe Argentina immediately from Miss Benejam," the organization stated.
Despite the organization's decisive action, Benejam has yet to remove "Miss Universe Argentina 2024" from her Instagram bio.
