AceShowbiz - Rachel Leviss (Raquel Leviss) is opening up about her experience with domestic violence after her ex-boyfriend, James Kennedy, was arrested on December 10 on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence.

In a series of Instagram Stories, Leviss shared a post from 2018 in which she defended her decision to stay with Kennedy despite allegations of abuse. She explained that abusive relationships can be confusing and that she believed in Kennedy's potential.

"Bad times can be few and far between," she wrote. "It's easy to minimize the abuse and want to believe the person is capable of change."

Leviss went on to describe the mixed emotions she has felt since Kennedy's arrest. "I've experienced so many emotions this past week. Feeling happy and vindicated and also so sad and broken," she said. "I don't want this to be brushed under the rug like the times before."

Leviss has previously spoken out about coercive control in her relationship with Kennedy, and she reiterated her stance in her Instagram Stories. "Abuse can be heavy to talk about and re-examine," she wrote.

Leviss and Kennedy's arrest has brought into focus the history of violence allegations against Kennedy. Leviss and Kristen Doute, another "Vanderpump Rules" alum, had previously alluded to alleged abuse by Kennedy.

Kennedy has since released a statement saying he is "committed to making meaningful changes in [his] life" and focusing on his sobriety and personal growth.
