AceShowbiz - Sony Pictures Animation has chosen Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson to direct "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse," the third and concluding installment of the animated trilogy.

Persichetti and Thompson have been part of the Spider-Verse creative team since its inception. Persichetti co-directed the 2018 Oscar-winning "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and served as an executive producer on its 2023 sequel, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." Thompson worked as the production designer on the first film and joined the directorial team of the second alongside Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers.

"We have had the immense privilege of being part of Miles' journey from the very beginning, and directing the conclusion to his story is beyond exciting," said Persichetti and Thompson in a joint statement.

"The creativity and care poured into every minute of this project has been truly inspiring. We have crafted what we feel is a very satisfying ending, and we can't wait for fans to experience it - we're bringing everything we've got!"

The "Spider-Verse" films, which star Shameik Moore as the titular Spider-Man/Miles Morales, have garnered critical acclaim for their visual inventiveness and storytelling, raising the bar for superhero films.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the creative minds behind the trilogy, will return to write the screenplay with David Callaham, who also contributed to "Across the Spider-Verse." Lord and Miller will produce the film alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg serve as executive producers, while Jessica Berri is credited as co-producer.

"Bob and Justin's fingerprints are woven into the DNA of these films, and their passion for Miles' journey shines through in every frame of his last adventure," said Lord and Miller. "There is nothing more rewarding than collaborating with creative partners with bold vision and brilliant execution like Bob and Justin. "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" does not currently have a release date, having been previously removed from its March 2024 slot due to release schedule adjustments.
