AceShowbiz - "SEAL Team" bid farewell to television after seven seasons in October, with David Boreanaz's character Jason Hayes receiving a much-deserved happy ending. Despite the show's cancellation, much of season 7 had already been written, allowing the writers to wrap up Bravo's story.
Initially, Boreanaz considered the possibility of killing off Jason, but he ultimately rejected the idea, arguing that it would have been too harsh on his character, especially considering his children's recent experiences.
Other ideas for Jason's fate were also briefly explored, such as having him leave the field to become Head of Warfighter Health or calling the plays from the sidelines. However, these options did not align with Jason's impulsive and ambitious nature.
In the end, the series concluded with Jason still leading Bravo and facing new challenges. Boreanaz expressed satisfaction with the ending, believing it was appropriate for a character like Jason to remain on the battlefield. However, he acknowledged the tragic element inherent in all special operators' lives.
The season 7 DVD release on December 17 will include deleted scenes, a gag reel and two featurettes. The complete series, available now on Paramount+, features 114 episodes and over five and a half hours of special features.
Boreanaz reflected on his time on "SEAL Team", highlighting the show's authenticity and its impact on real veterans. He expressed pride in the series' accomplishments and its consistent quality, despite the demanding workload.
Although a film continuation is a possibility, Boreanaz indicated that he would prefer a shorter commitment, given the physical and mental toll of producing a series like "SEAL Team". He also acknowledged the complex relationship between Jason and Mandy, but expressed contentment with its resolution.
"SEAL Team" ending may not have been the most predictable, but it was a fitting conclusion to Jason Hayes's journey. The series will undoubtedly continue to be cherished by fans for its realistic portrayal of the sacrifices and challenges faced by those who serve our country.
