David Boreanaz's Physical Toll Ends 'SEAL Team' After Seven Seasons

The former 'Bones' actor gets real about his decision to quit playing Master Chief Jason Hayes on the military drama series, admitting that his 'body just can't do it anymore.'

AceShowbiz - Paramount+'s military drama "SEAL Team" is set to conclude its seventh and final season this year, and David Boreanaz, the show's star, has revealed the reason behind the decision. After playing Master Chief Jason Hayes since the beginning, Boreanaz's body has simply reached its limit.

"My body just can't do it anymore!" the 55-year-old actor told PEOPLE. "There were no shortcuts."

The actor has gone through an immense amount of wear and tear over the years, performing intense stunts and enduring relentless action sequences. Even off-camera, Boreanaz has experienced the physical consequences of the show's authenticity.

"I think I've had four MRIs in the past four months, for my knees, hips, shoulders," Boreanaz said. "It's been quite a journey."

Despite the toll it has taken on his body, Boreanaz acknowledges the importance of "SEAL Team" and its representation of military personnel. "The Navy SEALs have thanked me for the real representation the show brings to elite military members," Boreanaz said. "My work ethic is always head on a swivel, be in the now, don't look back, don't look far down the pipeline."

Although he won't be returning to "SEAL Team", Boreanaz has hinted at future projects and plans to take a break after working non-stop since the '90s. However, his passion for acting remains strong. "Work to me is relaxation, it fulfills me."

The first two episodes of "SEAL Team" season 7 are now streaming on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping weekly. The series finale is set to air later this year.
