AceShowbiz - Co-creator and writer Taylor Sheridan has taken the helm for the series finale of "Yellowstone" season 5B, titled "Life Is a Promise". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the episode will be a special super-sized event airing on Paramount Network on December 15 at 8 P.M. ET, with a runtime of one hour and 26 minutes.
Sheridan, who has written every episode of the series, directed the entire first season of "Yellowstone" in 2018. Since then, he has directed several episodes within his stable of Paramount+ series, including "Mayor of Kingstown", "Yellowstone" prequel "1883", "Lioness" and "Landman".
The finale's logline reads, "The fate of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is revealed." The episode's extra-long duration and Sheridan's involvement as director suggest a significant and emotional conclusion to the season.
Despite reports that season 5B would be the final season of the series, the "Yellowstone" franchise is expected to continue in some form. Paramount has announced a sequel series titled "The Madison", starring Michelle Pfeiffer, and two other potential spinoffs are in development.
Additionally, stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, who play Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler respectively, have expressed interest in continuing their roles in the "Yellowstone" universe. Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter, "We'll see by the end if they want it... It has to be authentic."
No matter the outcome of the finale, the "Yellowstone" franchise continues to expand, with spinoff series set in various historical periods. "1883" and "1923" have already been released, and a third prequel set in 1944 is in development.
