In a new interview, the media mogul raises people's eyebrows with his frosty response to a question regarding him lending his L.A. mansion to the Duchess of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry.

AceShowbiz - Tyler Perry seems to act defensive and protective when it comes to his friend Meghan Markle. In a new interview, Tyler raised people's eyebrows with his response to a question regarding him lending his Los Angeles mansion to the Duchess of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry.

During a sit-down with the Sunday Times, the film and TV producer was asked about his decision to lend his $18 million California home to the royals after they quit the royal family in 2020 despite never meeting each other beforehand. When asked if he helped the Sussexes prepare their move from the U.K. to the States, Tyler simply said, "I didn't."

The publication noted that he's apparently not happy with the question as "any conversational intimacy evaporated." Later, the film mogul explained, "Meghan is from California. She knows California well. So there was nothing to prepare them for."

The "Madea's Family Reunion" writer continued, "But I will say this: what I learnt about mentioning them - because there's this insatiable appetite to know all about them - is that any question that is asked becomes the headline of anything I say."

Tyler was then asked to comment on the insatiable interest in the couple. To the question, Meghan's billionaire friend claimed that he doesn't pay attention to the media. He added, "You're from the U.K., you tell me."

Tyler continued to act defensive when the interviewer pointed out that the headlines regarding Meghan and Harry in the U.K. media are as much as they are in the U.S. "You think?" Tyler responded. "Well, you would know better than I would because I'm not paying attention to that world."

Meghan opened up about Tyler's kind gesture in her and Harry's 2022 documentary "Harry & Meghan". According to the former "Suits" actress, the media mogul offered them the use of his private jet, security team and Los Angeles home following their big decision to leave their job as senior royal family members and move to the U.S.

"I was just a wreck," Meghan recalled in the Netflix documentary. "I was just crying and crying. Sometimes it's easier to just open up to someone who knows nothing at all, and that was that moment with me and Tyler."

Meghan and Harry lived in Tyler's lavish mansion for four months before they purchased their $14 million estate in Montecito, California.
