Ralph Fiennes Endorses Cillian Murphy as Potential Successor for Voldemort Role on 'Harry Potter' TV Series

Ralph Fiennes, who portrayed Voldemort in the 'Harry Potter' film franchise, has revealed his support for Cillian Murphy as the villain in the upcoming HBO TV series adaptation.

AceShowbiz - Ralph Fiennes has one favorite for potential successor for Voldemort role in HBO's upcoming "Harry Potter" series. During an appearance on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen", Fiennes said it Cillian Murphy would be a great choice for the iconic role.

The 61-year-old actor praised the "Oppenheimer" star's acting abilities. He told host Andy Cohen, "Cillian is a fantastic actor... That's a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favor of Cillian. Yeah."

Fiennes first portrayed Voldemort in 2005's "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and reprised the role in subsequent films. In November 2022, he expressed willingness to return as the villain if asked.

The HBO "Harry Potter" TV series is scheduled to air in 2026 and will be "a faithful adaptation" of J.K. Rowling's books, according to HBO's Casey Bloys. Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod are serving as writer and director, respectively.

News of the potential casting of Murphy comes amidst ongoing controversy surrounding Rowling's comments on trans people. However, Fiennes has defended Rowling, describing the abuse directed at her as "disgusting."

Murphy, who won an Oscar for "Oppenheimer" is currently filming "The Immortal Man", a sequel to the hit series "Peaky Blinders".
