AceShowbiz - Ricki Lake has shared her heartfelt memories and experiences with her late ex-husband Christian Evans, who tragically died by suicide in 2017. Speaking at End Well's annual symposium, Lake recalled her efforts to support Evans during his battle with bipolar disorder.
"I didn't understand what bipolar disorder meant at first," Lake admitted. "He suffered from depression and had a lot of pain." Despite her attempts to provide help, including getting him medical assistance, Evans experienced a second psychotic break and ultimately took his own life.
Lake, who met Evans in 2010, described their deep connection. "He was super magical, and he was madly in love with me and I with him." They became engaged in 2011 and married in 2012 but separated in 2014. Despite their divorce, they remained close.
After Evan's passing, Lake struggled with feelings of guilt and failure. "I'm a manifester, I get things done," she said. "But I couldn't save him." However, she has since found solace in honoring his memory and the lessons learned from their relationship.
"What I can say is through loving and losing him, I'm the best version of myself because of the way he loved me," Lake remarked. "I've learned so much about love, connection, and the continuation of life beyond death." While their story ended in tragedy, Lake remains grateful for the impact Evans had on her life. "I wake up every day in gratitude for the life we shared, both with him and without him."
