AceShowbiz - JoJo Siwa is all about having fun, even when the joke's on her. The 21-year-old singer and former "Dance Moms" star couldn't be more delighted with Chloe Fineman's portrayal of her on "Saturday Night Live", despite having one small critique.
JoJo Siwa will forever be a fan of Chloe Fineman, even if she continues to impersonate her on "Saturday Night Live". PEOPLE caught up with the "Dance Moms" alum at the 11th Annual American Reality Television Awards, where she revealed that she's a fan of Fineman's portrayal of her on the late-night sketch comedy show, but has one critique.
"I think she needs to be a little more full out in the dance, but other than that, everything was perfect," said Siwa at the Monday, November 18 event.
Siwa was referring to Fineman's portrayal of her from the episode on Saturday, November 16, in which she impersonated Siwa auditioning for "Wicked". The sketch showed Fineman, 36, wearing a leather bodysuit similar to the one Siwa wore in her "Karma" music video, but with pink fabric. "I may be a good witch, but I'm still a bad girl," says Fineman during the sketch after singing a verse from the song "Popular" from the Broadway musical and doing a short dance.
Siwa tells PEOPLE that Fineman, who has previously impersonated her on the show, "nails it every time." When asked if she's shared her sentiments directly with Fineman, the former child star reveals that she hasn't yet, "but I do need to reach out and tell her that I'm honored again."
In March, Siwa told PEOPLE at the 2024 GLAAD Awards that she was ready to be "criticized" during her "transition" into adulthood following her "Dance Moms" fame. "I've seen people before me make this transition, I've seen how much I loved it, and I've seen also how much the world has criticized us, so I am ready for that. One thing that I think no one's done is given the heads-up," she said, referring to a series of Instagram posts she previously made about her new content that is "not made for children."
"It was important to me to give that heads-up and be like, look, if you follow along, that's all you. If you want to go, now's your time. But in the best way possible, now's your time," continued Siwa.
Fineman's portrayal has truly captured the essence of Siwa's vibrant personality. Joining the cast of "SNL" during season 45 in 2019, Fineman has become known for her celebrity impersonations of Drew Barrymore, Timothee Chalamet, Anna Delvey and more. With her spot-on impressions and energetic sketches, it's clear why her portrayal of JoJo Siwa has resonated so strongly with fans, including JoJo herself.
