Director Paul King provides an update on the sequel to his Wonka prequel, teasing a globetrotting adventure and revealing the early stages of script development.

AceShowbiz - Paul King, the visionary director behind the acclaimed "Wonka" prequel, has revealed that he is halfway through drafting an initial script for the sequel. Speaking at the premiere of "Paddington" in Peru, King shared his enthusiasm for continuing the story of the eccentric chocolatier, Willy Wonka.
While emphasizing that the movie is still in its early stages of development, King hinted at a globetrotting adventure that will take Wonka on an international voyage. "I'll try to get some international travel in it," he teased. "So maybe that's the only tease I'll give."
King's vision for the sequel remains distinctive despite the prequel's establishment of the Gene Wilder-led "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". He intends to depict a fresh narrative set in a world that closely aligns with the familiar elements of the Wonka universe.
"There's an awful lot more Wonka story that we have that we would like to tell," King said. "I'd like to spend more time in this world and meet some more Oompa Loompas."
The original Wonka starred Timothee Chalamet in the titular role, and it is likely that Chalamet will reprise his performance in the sequel.
King's Wonka, released last year, was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $250 million worldwide. The film depicted a young Willy Wonka's journey to revolutionize candy-making and establish his own chocolate factory.
