AceShowbiz - Don Johnson, 74, has recalled a bizarre prank he witnessed involving a young Johnny Depp and the renowned journalist Hunter S. Thompson. During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Thursday, November 7, Johnson shared the incident that occurred when he was Thompson's neighbor in Woody Creek, Colorado.
Johnson explained that he had called Thompson to inquire about marijuana, which Thompson had in abundance. He decided to send his assistant to retrieve the weed for a gathering he was hosting. As the assistant approached Thompson's driveway, Depp and Thompson were hiding behind a car with shotguns loaded with blanks.
They both jumped out and shouted, "Die, mother!" before firing the blanks. The assistant, terrified, was unable to control his bladder and "peed his pants," according to Johnson.
Johnson added that Thompson and Depp were close friends, and that Thompson had become an uncle figure to his children, including actress Dakota Johnson. Depp also portrayed Thompson's character in the 1998 film "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".
The incident highlights the often-outrageous nature of Thompson's pranks and the strong bond he shared with Depp. It also underscores the enduring legacy of their iconic friendship and the impact of Thompson's influence on popular culture.
