AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez has always been candid about her health issues and the impact they've had on her physical appearance. Recently, the "Only Murders in the Building" star, 32, found herself responding to critics who accused her of "hiding her stomach" during a red-carpet appearance.
It all started when a TikTok user shared a video, analyzing Gomez's poses at the premiere of her new Netflix film, "Emilia Perez". Some commenters insinuated she was deliberately covering her stomach. "This makes me sick," Gomez responded. "I have SEBO in my small intestine. It flares up. I don't care that I don't look like a stick figure. I don't have that body. End of story."
SIBO, or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, is a condition that causes bloating, stomach pain, and other digestive issues. Gomez has also been living with lupus, an autoimmune disease that can cause significant weight fluctuations due to medication. She underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, which has also affected her health journey.
In another Instagram post, Gomez shared swimsuit photos from 2013 and 2023, reflecting on her body changes over the years. "Today, I realized I will never look like this again," she captioned the older photo. In the more recent image, she wrote, "I'm not perfect but I am proud to be who I am ... sometimes I forget it's OK to be me."
