AceShowbiz - Garret Dillahunt, known for his roles in "Deadwood" and "Fear the Walking Dead," has secured a major recurring role in the Green Lantern television series.
HBO's "Lanterns" is based on the renowned DC comic and follows the adventures of John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops investigating a murder mystery in the American heartland. Garret Dillahunt will play William Macon, a self-righteous and conspiracy-minded modern cowboy whose charming and calculated facade conceals ruthless ambition.
The series, developed by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, also stars Kelly MacDonald as Hal Jordan's love interest, Sheriff Kerry.
"Lanterns" is an eight-episode production from HBO, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Studios. Mundy, Lindelof, and King co-write and executive produce the series while James Hawes directs the first two episodes and serves as executive producer.
Dillahunt is simultaneously starring in Robert O'Hara's "Shit. Meet. Fan." off-Broadway and recurring in ABC's "High Potential" and Peacock's "Hysteria!"
"We are thrilled to bring this seminal DC title to HBO with Chris, Damon, and Tom at the helm," stated James Gunn and Peter Safran, co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. "John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC's most compelling characters, and 'Lanterns' brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we're launching next summer with 'Superman.'
