Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, reveals her approach to informing their daughters about the actor's frontotemporal dementia, emphasizing transparency and resilience.

AceShowbiz - Emma Heming Willis, wife of actor Bruce Willis, has disclosed her reasoning for being candid with their two young daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, about the actor's diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

In an interview with Katie Couric for Town & Country Magazine, Heming Willis explained that she has never tried to conceal Willis' illness from their daughters, recognizing their awareness of his decline over time. She believes that shielding them from the truth would be detrimental.

"I've never tried to sugarcoat anything for them. They've grown up with Bruce declining over the years. I'm not trying to shield them from it," she stated.

Heming Willis credited their therapist with the guidance to inform children when they ask questions, indicating they are ready for the answers. She has addressed their father's struggles with them, explaining that FTD is a chronic, progressive, and terminal disease.

"They know that Daddy's not going to get better," she said, acknowledging that they do not yet discuss the terminal aspect of the disease.

Despite the difficult reality, Heming Willis is determined not to let FTD consume their family. She believes her husband would not want that and wants their children to see her fighting for their family while instilling hope.

"I'm not going to allow FTD to take our whole family down. Bruce wouldn't want that. They're going to see me fight for our family, have some hope, and help the next family out there," she expressed.
