AceShowbiz - Arnold Schwarzenegger, who served as California's governor from 2003 to 2011, is no stranger to sharing his political views. However, it is rare for the "Terminator" star to make an endorsement. In a social media message posted on X, Schwarzenegger revealed that he has decided to back Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for president and vice president, respectively.
Schwarzenegger expressed his disillusionment with the current state of American politics, emphasizing his distaste for party lines and the toxic environment fostered by recent administrations. "I will always be an American before I am a Republican," he wrote, making it clear that his loyalty to the country outweighs any party allegiance.
His endorsement stems from a deep frustration with the unaddressed issues that have plagued the country for decades, such as the national debt and immigration reform. Schwarzenegger lamented the fact that politicians often prioritize "having talking points" for elections rather than undertaking "the public service that will make Americans' lives better."
Furthermore, Schwarzenegger criticized former President Donald Trump, particularly his refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election and his role in the January 6 Capitol insurrection. "Rejecting the results of an election is as un-American as it gets," he stated, adding that it angers him to see America, a "shining city on a hill," disparaged as a "trash can for the world."
Schwarzenegger did not mince words when outlining the dangers of another Trump presidency. He warned that Trump would only exacerbate the country's divisions and hostility, ultimately leading to "four more years of bullshit with no results that makes us angrier and angrier, more divided, and more hateful."
Despite his misgivings about the Democratic platform, Schwarzenegger sees Harris and Walz as the viable option for moving the country forward. "I want to move forward as a country, and even though I have plenty of disagreements with their platform, I think the only way to do that is with Harris and Walz," he concluded.
By breaking party ranks to endorse Harris and Walz, Schwarzenegger sends a powerful message about prioritizing the country's well-being over partisan loyalty. His appeal to Americans to vote, regardless of their stance, highlights the importance of democratic participation in shaping the nation's future.
