AceShowbiz - Hilarie Burton, known for her role in "One Tree Hill" and her candid approach to parenting, has recently voiced serious concerns about a "freak" making fake social media accounts pretending to be her son, Augustus "Gus," aged 14. The alleged impostor's activity has not only creeped out the Burton-Morgan family but has also drawn them into a fight involving law enforcement and social media platforms.
On Friday, October 25, Burton took to Instagram to warn her followers about the TikTok account named @AugustusDeanMorgan. "Hi gang. Need a little help," she began. "I don't have TikTok and neither does our son. But there's this creep chick who is obsessed with him and keeps creating profiles on various platforms," she explained.
Burton dismissed the impersonator as a "freak for stealing the identity of a 14-year-old boy," while acknowledging Gus' awesomeness with a touch of humor. She mentioned having reached out to the girl's parents and also contacting law enforcement, stating that due to certain actions, the impersonator had "broken laws." "So please do me a favor if you have that platform. Report her," she urged her followers.
The issue didn't end with just the TikTok account. Burton updated her post to inform that while the TikTok account had been taken down, the woman still had other accounts pretending to be Gus. "Her name is clearly present on that YouTube account now. I see H*****. I called your campus police. I've reached out to your mother's church. I'm not f**king around," Burton declared firmly.
In supporting his wife, Jeffrey Dean Morgan also commented on the post with a stern warning, "F**kin people. get a life. your own preferably, but for certain, NOT our kids. if not… prepare for morgan wrath, which i promise is not a joke."
This incident highlights the growing concerns of digital identity theft and the consequences it can have on families, especially those in the public eye.
In another, more positive turn, Burton candidly opened up to PEOPLE about discussing hormone changes with her teenage son during this tumultuous period. "Being a mother, it is really important. We get to raise a whole new generation of kids that are talking about it from the jump. It's not some secret that they learn decades into their life," she emphasized.
As Gus navigates high school and the storms of puberty, Burton's transparent dialogue aims to make her son feel understood and supported, something every parent and child can learn from.
