This modern retake transforms the narrative onto the backdrop of an elite college's Greek life and retains the themes of deceit, seduction, and cruelty from the 1999 cult film.

At the heart of the story is an indecent bet between affluent step-siblings Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Valmont (Zac Burgess), who rule the Greek system at Manchester College, an elite university near Washington D.C.

After a hazing incident jeopardizes their charter, Caroline recruits Lucien's help to get the U.S. vice president's daughter Annie (Savannah Lee Smith) to pledge her sorority. She tells him to "convince her in the way only you can," to which Lucien replies, "What's in it for me?" Caroline's response, "What you've always wanted. Me," sets the tone for their manipulation and scheming.

The 1999 film "Cruel Intentions" starred Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Selma Blair.
