When asked about the Oscar buzz in a recent interview with Extra, Selena expressed her excitement and nerves. "I have hives," she confessed. "It's a compliment… We are just so thrilled that people are receiving it with an open heart and open mind and hopefully it will leave an imprint."

Despite the swirling excitement, Gomez is keeping a grounded perspective on the accolades. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the film's red carpet premiere in Los Angeles, she shared, "I don't like to think anything or be presumptuous. I'm just going to say I'm so happy people are receiving it the way they are."

In "Emilia Pérez," which hits theaters on November 1 and will be available on Netflix starting November 13, Gomez takes on the role of Jessi, the wife of a ruthless cartel leader, Manitas. One of the standout moments for Gomez in the film is the musical number "Beinvenida," a performance she originally auditioned with. Recalling the experience, she said, "I had no idea the concept he was going for. The director, Jacques, literally said to me, 'Act drunk and throw your shoes if you want and do all this stuff and just go crazy.' "

"And I was like, 'Oh? OK.' I did it once, and he was like, 'Go crazier.' And I went totally for it. I was standing on furniture, and I blacked out, but I was just singing my heart out and dancing like a mad woman - I guess a drunk mad woman - and it was a very crazy experience, but I was honored when he decided to ultimately go with me."

Having started her career at just ten years old and boasting three solo albums, Gomez is no stranger to choreographed singing and acting. But she humbly acknowledges the talent around her, especially her co-star Zoe Saldana. "They didn't need it. First off, did you see Zoe? That girl does not need any tips. If anything, I need the tips," Gomez laughed. "Everybody, I thought, was vulnerable, and it was real, and we just did the best that we could, even if it didn't sound perfect."
