Comedian and actor Marlon Wayans is 'ashamed' to admit that he 'tried to hypnotize' his child among other things in an attempt to stop gender transition.

AceShowbiz - In a recent heartfelt podcast interview with fellow comedian Neal Brennan, Marlon Wayans opened up about his early attempts to stop his 24-year-old son Kai from transitioning from female to male. Reflecting on those initial reactions, Wayans confessed, "I tried to hypnotize that b***h…I was like, 'No, wait, hold on, wait-' And I protested against it."

Wayans, known for his vibrant comedic persona, did not shy away from admitting his regret over those actions. "I don't say that with pride," he acknowledged, "I look back on those actions, and I'm ashamed."

He further shared his difficult path to acceptance, emphasizing that his initial response stemmed from a desire for "normalcy" and envisioning a future with grandchildren.

During the interview, Neal Brennan delved deeper, asking about any other measures Wayans might have taken to impede Kai's transition. Laughing, Wayans admitted, "I would 'impose sanctions' by 'taking allowance.' However, that move proved to be futile." The comedian shared that his efforts didn't waver Kai's determination, who responded resiliently, "So what? F**k it, I'll starve."

"Nothing was working. This is what they wanted to do. I always said I want my kids to be happy. In order to be happy, you're not gonna please everybody."

Wayans' journey from confusion and resistance to understanding and acceptance was swift, taking him merely a week. Realizing his own missteps, Wayans expressed his embarrassment and the growth that followed.

"I was embarrassed when I was forced to look in the mirror, and it only took me a week…I got to a beautiful place of acceptance," he noted, offering a message of hope and resilience for other parents in similar situations. "It's not on us to judge anybody like, hey man, life yo life."

The actor also highlighted the importance of unconditional love and support, despite personal challenges and societal expectations. "I'm a father first, I'm a comedian second, and those two clash," he emphasized. "I told my child, 'I'ma have my jokes, ni**a… and they know my heart, and they trust that I'ma tell a great story and I can't wait for people to see it."

Marlon Wayans' openness about his journey with his son has resonated with many and serves as a compelling testament to the transformative power of love and acceptance. For young audiences navigating their own identities or supporting friends and family members, Wayans' story is a powerful reminder that understanding and growth often follow even the most challenging starts.
