Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Emerson, husband of 'Elsbeth' star Carrie Preston, will join the CBS series in Season 2 in a recurring role as Judge Milton Crawford.

AceShowbiz - Michael Emerson has officially joined the cast of CBS' "Elsbeth" for Season 2 in a recurring role, as announced during the show's panel at New York Comic-Con. Emerson will star opposite his wife, Carrie Preston, who plays the titular attorney in the series.

Emerson will portray Judge Milton Crawford, described as a "haughty, soft-spoken and bespectacled man from an old New England family of public servants who sees his place in the nation's elite as a birthright." He will serve as a foil to Preston's character, Elsbeth Tascioni, an astute but unconventional consent decree attorney working with the NYPD.

The news of Emerson's casting was made during the "Elsbeth" panel at New York Comic-Con, featuring co-creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King, showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Tolins, and cast members Preston and Wendell Pierce. Emerson joined them on stage to share the news himself.

"Elsbeth" is based on the character featured on "The Good Wife" and "The Good Fight". The series premiered on October 17 and airs new episodes on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Season 2 brings new cases and challenges when mistakes of the past come back to haunt Elsbeth, Captain Wagner (Pierce), and detective-in-training Officer Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson).

Emerson has a long list of credits, including Emmy Awards for his roles on "The Practice" and "Lost". He has also appeared in "Person of Interest", "Evil", "The Name of the Rose" and the original "Saw" film.

The couple has appeared together before in projects such as "Person of Interest" and "Evil," both created by Robert and Michelle King.

"Elsbeth" is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
