Mother to young daughters, Eva Mendes explains how she and actor husband are doing everything they can to give their little girls normal childhood and shield them from Hollywood and internet.

AceShowbiz - In a world where social media and smartphones dominate the lives of many children, the daughters of Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are growing up a little differently. In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Mendes sheds light on her unique approach to parenting daughters Esmeralda, 10, and Amada, 8.

"Putting my kid on the internet and being like, 'Oh, search something,' that to me is equivalent to telling her, 'Oh, just go down the street in the middle of the night. You'll be fine,' " Mendes said. "I know that sounds extreme, but that's what I feel."

Mendes attributes her method of raising her children to "conscious parenting," which prioritizes the parent-child relationship over stringent rules. She also makes a conscious effort to avoid talking about body insecurities or aging in front of her children and ensures that her sisters follow suit, "I'm not going to be able to control this narrative much longer. They're getting to that age."

To further shield their daughters from the excesses of Hollywood, Mendes and Gosling have made the decision to relocate their family away from the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown. "For them, the most important job is their girls. Everything else comes second," a source told People magazine. The couple's commitment to their daughters' well-being led to moving further north so their children wouldn't grow up among other celebrity kids.

Mendes, who stepped back from acting a decade ago, prioritized her role as a mother over her career. "I was never in love with acting. I don't mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn't a great actress," she admitted. Despite her self-evaluation, Mendes acknowledges the profound effect Gosling has had on her work. "He gets something out of me that's never been accessible before."

In an interview with "Good Morning America," Mendes mirrored her thoughts about her acting hiatus. "I don't know. If there's interesting roles… I kind of felt like I did it, you know? I was like, 'I just worked with Ryan Gosling. He's like, the best,' " she said, referencing their 2012 film, "The Place Beyond the Pines". She likened her decision to step back to the ending of a beloved TV show, believing it was the right moment to "Seinfeld it" and bow out gracefully.
