Bruce Springsteen shares an update on his wife Patti Scialfa's health condition, roughly a month after the female musician announced her struggle with blood cancer.

AceShowbiz - In an upcoming ABC News special, "Bruce Springsteen: Backstage and Backstreets," Bruce Springsteen provides an update on his wife Patti Scialfa's health. Scialfa, 71, revealed in September that she has been battling multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, since 2018.
"She's doing good," Springsteen, 75, said in a trailer for the special. "We caught it early, which was important." Springsteen added that the disease is "a tough disease" and "very fatiguing."
Scialfa, a member of the E Street Band since 1984, has been largely absent from their current tour, which began in February 2023 and continues into July 2025. She explained in Springsteen's documentary, "Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band," that her condition affects her immune system, making it difficult for her to perform.
"Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that's a treat," Scialfa said. "That's the new normal for me right now, and I'm OK with that."
The couple, who have been married for 33 years, decided to share Scialfa's diagnosis after fans began inquiring about her absence at concerts. Along with their health updates, Springsteen has also been open about his own health struggles over the past year. The singer postponed several tour dates due to peptic ulcer disease and has experienced ongoing vocal issues.
The ABC special, which airs October 20, will delve into both Springsteen and Scialfa's health experiences. It will provide insights into how they have navigated their individual battles and the impact on their lives and musical careers.
