AceShowbiz - The ballroom experiences a twist as "Dancing with the Stars" pro Emma Slater faces an unexpected setback. After a double elimination, Slater sustained an injury that puts her on the sidelines.
The post-elimination period has been challenging for the pro dancer. Despite her enthusiasm to stay engaged with the show, an undisclosed ankle injury has taken her off the dance floor indefinitely. The injury occurred on Monday, October 14 after she and her partner, Reginald VelJohnson, were ousted from the competition following their performances on October 7-8.
On Instagram, Slater shared a picture from hospital bed, "Today threw a little curve ball at me but got looked after by some special people. Thought I was gunna be cutting a rug with my fellow #eliminated pros but sadly I got #eliminated from that crew too so I think I'll go join @thereginaldveljohnson and just sit on the couch for a bit."
Emma didn't elaborate on the specifics of her accident or the severity of her injury. She did, however, reach out to her family to let them know she was alright, expressing on social media, "On the phone to my mum and dad letting them know I'm OK. All is good, will be back soon."
Despite their efforts, Slater and VelJohnson's foxtrot and cha cha routines did not impress the judges, both scoring 21 out of 40, leading to their elimination. They departed the competition alongside Eric Roberts and his partner, Britt Stewart.
The show must go on, and "Dancing with the Stars" continues with its scheduled Dedication Night, where the nine remaining couples will perform routines dedicated to influential figures or institutions in their lives. This week's episode will feature Derek Hough and wife Hayley Hough performing together and Mark Ballas taking a seat at the judge's table as a guest judge.
Fans of the show and Emma Slater are left hopeful for her speedy recovery and return to the ballroom. Slater's absence will surely be felt, but her positive attitude and dedication to the show bring assurance that she'll be back soon.
